Creanord EchoNEWS: February 2009
Welcome to the February issue of Creanord EchoNEWS. Creanord EchoNEWS aims to keep you informed of the latest developments at Creanord
and in the fields of automated Ethernet service delivery, SLA assurance and Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM).
This issue will introduce Creanord Professional Services and Creanord EchoAgent, one of the key components of Creanord EchoVault. We'll also cover the EchoAgent for Windows more detailed.
This years Ethernet Expo takes place in London 13th and 14th of May. We are looking forward to meeting you there!
Introducing Creanord Professional Services
Too often we see news about yet another project failing to meet the goals. The reason might have been insufficient planning, unrealistic deadlines or simply a lack of dedicated staff.
With Creanord you have the option to use Creanord Professional Services team as an extra resource for assuring success and the use of best practices.
We also provide training services for securing the highest technology know-how and operational efficiency. This enables you to take full advantage of our solution.
Creanord EchoAgent
Creanord EchoAgent was initially developed to close the gap between the service sold and the service delivered. There was a clear requirement for sophisticated End-to-End performance
measurement for both internal and customer Service Level Agreement (SLA) purposes. Today we are happy to notice that many networking vendors are interested of embedding the EchoAgent
to their CPE's, routers and base station equipment.
Creanord EchoVault and EchoAgents deliver complete set of OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance) utilities as well as the FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting,
Performance, Security) instruments in one centrally managed environment.
In addition for the embedded EchoAgent typically deployed in the network edge we have found that extending the visibility to workstations and laptops is often required.
The following case study gives you more insights on how the EchoAgent for Windows saw the daylight.
Case study - EchoAgent for Windows
The development of EchoAgent for Windows was based on a customer requirement and the project was taken care by Creanord Professional Services.
One of the Creanord EchoVault customers had a need to verify specific mission critical application's quality and performance from workstations for assuring the end-user experience.
Once the functionalities and features of the Windows Agent were defined with the customer, it was up to the Creanord development to plan and carry out the development of the Windows Agent
so that all the customer requirements were fulfilled.
The result was a Windows Service allowing EchoVault customers to measure service and network KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) from desktops and laptops which are running Windows XP
or Windows Vista operating systems. The EchoAgent for Windows performs selected measurement and monitoring functions by simulating end user behavior for assuring the quality of service.
Currently the tests include Network Performance and Availability measurement with UDP Echo according to RFC862, TCP Connect test, Network Share test and HTTP Service Availability test.
More tests are introduced to the EchoAgent for Windows according to customer needs and requirements. We welcome the opportunity for discussing your specific needs of implementing
the EchoAgent as a part of your network environment.
Ethernet Expo: Europe 2009
Ethernet Expo Europe 2009 takes place in London on the 13th and 14th of May at the ExCel Conference Centre. You are welcome to meet us and discuss the Creanord EchoVault
solution, Ethernet SLA automation, service creation and OAM in more details. You can find us at booth 218.
Creanord will participate in the Success Stories - Addressing Enterprise Requirements for Ethernet Services with Dynamic QOS & Robust SLAs - session on Wednesday 13th from 11.45 - 12.45.
Please come and join us and hear how operators can deliver Ethernet-based solutions with various quality of service (QOS) and class of service (COS) guarantees and robust service-level
agreements (SLAs) tailored for each customer's unique needs.
