Creanord EchoNEWS: March 2009
Welcome to the March issue of Creanord EchoNEWS. Creanord EchoNEWS aims to keep you informed of the latest developments at Creanord
and in the fields of automated Ethernet service delivery, SLA assurance and Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM).
This issue will cover Creanord EchoVault as a Standardized Service Catalog and we will tell you more about the Green aspects of the EchoVault.
Introduction to Standardized Service Catalog
Service Providers need to be ever more efficient in order to succeed. Amongst many other things Service Providers must be able to productize new services, sell and deliver services
with shorter time-to-revenue than ever before. This can only be achieved with standardized products and services. Otherwise operational efficiency will suffer and customer churn will grow.
Standardized products and services still need to be delivered without compromising the service flexibility. Creanord EchoVault provides you the tools to achieve these goals.
Creanord EchoVault benefits
Creanord EchoVault delivers standardized service catalog for Ethernet Access products and services through Service Creator. The Service Creator is a new value added
feature to the Creanord EchoVault 3.3 release. The Service Creator provides a flexible way for creating service templates which act as a foundation for different types of new
Ethernet services. EchoVault automatically stores the created service templates and delivers change management information for the product
management throughout the whole Ethernet services lifecycle.
The service provisioning with EchoVault is done with a click of a mouse after the service is selected from the standardized service catalog. Creanord EchoVault automatically configures
the service parameters to all selected Ethernet access devices eliminating the possibility for human errors, witch often occur when services are created separately for each access device.
The service delivery can be further automated by using Creanord EchoVaults XML based Provisioning Interface enabling true OSS (Operations Support System) integration with order
fulfillment system of choice.
Automated topology aware SLA-meter
Creanord EchoVault provides automated topology aware SLA meter for performance and Service Level Agreement (SLA) monitoring. Template driven provisioning of the customer specific SLA
is as easy as provisioning the Ethernet service. Easy operation is achieved with EchoVault topology algorithm supporting point-to-point, hub-and-spoke and mesh topologies.
Hideous manual configuration of each measurement leg is eliminated thus less time is spent for delivering a complete SLA backed carrier class Ethernet service.
Creanord Goes Green
Creanord Managed Ethernet Access devices are a good example of Green Carrier Ethernet design. Units typically consume only 8W power. When compared to typical Ethernet switch the energy
savings are significant, in some cases more than 80%. Further more less cooling is needed due to conservative heat signature.
Creanord EchoVault technology enables Service Providers to plan and manage their network capacity based on unique per-second Bandwidth Utilisation measurements allowing higher traffic
subscription. This per-second visibility is provided by embedding Creanord EchoAgent into the network elements. Compared to previously used SNMP polling statistics the Creanord
EchoAgent provides over 300 times more granular visibility allowing Service Providers to subscribe the network more efficiently without compromising the quality and the end user
experience. Better bandwidth management also extends the lifespan of existing network elements by reducing unnecessary hardware changes and upgrades made based on bandwidth and
quality questimate.
Moreover the Creanord Managed Ethernet Access devices Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is 54 years making the device suitable for even the most demanding and highest availability
network environments. For further details please ask for Creanord technology white paper: Creanord EchoVault - Automating Managed Ethernet Access and Backhaul.
